Just the clarification on WTF is demand has reshaped my thinking. I had assumed systemic change is 'wanted' but it really probably isn't. It needs to come from individuals. Thanks so much for sharing just that!

I think it makes a lot of sense that after trying to pitch this product that it's not the right solution and need to (minorly) pivot. PULL framework has been a simple way that rewired my brain to think about making sure you have actual demand for the product with practical guiding steps

My one question is how did you come up with this idea in the first place / what's the 0th step? I understand that SOC 2 is a requirement for certain people and takes time to implement, but how much thought was put into the space youre choosing (devtools) and the more specific area (infra/compliance)? Is the point to just start with almost any idea and by talking to people you might be led into potentially a completely different space or did you have some approach to this as well? In my experience it does seem very helpful to have some general framing in order to approach and talk to people, instead of outbound "tell me about your day/problems"

I think that ultimately what a business succeeds at will be discovered by talking to people, but I'm worried about getting stuck in the beginning. I haven't put in the time you have for Waffle and might not be a good fit for that space, but comparing to other experiences I've had (all pre-PULL so hopefully things are better in the future :)), I feel like after the Waffle V1 demand audit I'd feel stuck and V2 idea is just as much a shot in the dark for me

I'm going through a lot of you substack and finding these posts to be super helpful, thanks Rob!
